چکیده
Automatic vehicle following is an important feature of a fully or partially automated highway system (AHS). The on-board control should be able to accept and process inputs from the driver, infrastructure, other vehicles, perform diagnostics, provide appropriate commands actuators so that resulting motion safe compatible with AHS objectives. purpose this article design test in order achieve full automation longitudinal direction for several modes operation, where infrastructure manages following. These include autonomous cooperative following, platooning. consists supervisory controller processes onboard sensors sends brake throttle controllers. In addition, makes decisions about normal, emergency, transition operations. Simulation results some basic maneuvers are used verify claimed performance designed Experiments on Interstate-15 demonstrate without vehicle-to-vehicle communications actual environment also included.

متن کاملVehicle merging control design for an automated highway system
The merging process in an Automated Highway System (AHS) is divided into a speed adjustment stage and a lane merging stage. Three important parameters, namely, acceptability, availability and pursuability, are analyzed to characterize the AHS lane gap features for the ideal, smooth and safe merging of the ramp vehicles. Three control guidance laws, namely, linear, optimal and parabolic speed pr...
متن کاملVehicle control for automated highway systems for improved lateral maneuverability
A b s t r a c t In this paper, longitudinal and lateral vehicle control for Automated Highway Systems (AHS) are studied together for their coupling effects. It is shown that longitudinal controllers which directly control the wheel slip are inherently more stable, especially during lateral maneuvers on very slippery road conditions, than longitudinal controllers which do not take wheel slip int...
متن کاملEmergency vehicle maneuvers and control laws for automated highway systems
The operation and transit of emergency vehicles on an automated highway system (AHS) designed under the control architecture proposed in the California Partners for Advanced Transit and Highways (PATH) program is described. The term emergency vehicles is used in a general sense to describe vehicles, such as police cars, ambulances, and tow trucks, that may service faults inside or outside the A...
